Google

A calculator to find the equation of a line that is parallel to another line and passing through a point.

How to use the calculator

1 - Enter the parameters a, b and c, where a, b and c are the coefficients of the the given line defined as follows.

a*x + b*y = c

2 - Then enter the point (xcoord , ycoord) through which the line passes.

3 - press "enter". The answer is an equation, in slope intercept form, of the line parallel to the line entered and passing through the point (xcoord , ycoord) .

Note that

1 - if you enter a = 0 and b = 0, no answer is given by the calculator.

2 - if you enter a not equal 0 and b = 0, the equation of the line is of the form x = constant = xcoord.
