Understanding Correlation & Regression
Correlation measures the strength and direction of the relationship between two variables. The correlation coefficient (r) ranges from -1 to 1:
- r = 1: Perfect positive correlation (points form a line sloping upward)
- r = -1: Perfect negative correlation (points form a line sloping downward)
- r = 0: No correlation (points are randomly scattered)
Regression finds the line of best fit through the data points, which can be used to predict values of one variable based on the other.
Instructions
